The story

This Bottle Holder Basket in Silver Metal (Art Deco style) is probably Christophle’s best known and undoubtedly the most successful of the other bottle holders. The greatest Parisian restaurants had immediately adopted it in the 1920s, a century ago. This piece of silverware will always retain its beautiful silver luster thanks to the electrolysis process first implemented by Christophle almost 200 years ago! – In Art Deco style (1920), this silver metal bottle holder was edited and marketed by Christophle in its Gallia collection. Decorative and useful, the object that was often found in the great Parisian restaurants, quickly became an icon in France. If you must be interested in one piece among the bottle racks produced by Christophle, this is it. The hallmark of the great brand is naturally a guarantee of quality. The brand, who sublimated ceremonial articles and everyday objects (from jewelry to cutlery, from decorative objects to tableware) became a worldwide reference. Indeed, Charles Christofle founded the company that bears his name in 1830 in Paris. Originally a jeweler, he purchased the patents for silvering and electrolytic gilding in 1842, which allowed him to become a goldsmith and retain the exclusivity of the process for 15 years. Among his first clients, Christophle counted the King of the French, Louis-Philippe, who had ordered a full service from him for his Château d’Eu in Normandy.
