The story

Since ancient times Catholics have signed themselves when entering a church. To do this, “bénitiers” were placed in the churches, containing holy water. They were often austere, in Romanesque or Gothic monuments, while at the dawn of the 20th century, modernity was infiltrating society… This “bénitiers”, both worked and coloured, represents this marriage between century-old traditions and novelty, and the pleasures of life. And who knows who might have commissioned this work, a rich priest? A treasure hunter perhaps? What if it had been found in Rennes-le-Château?

Stories do not necessarily correspond to reality. They are only given to illustrate a possible context of origin.
