The story

In the Catholic religion, it is important to sign oneself when entering a church. Holy water was available at the entrance. The French word “bénite” (meaning holy) is similar to “bénitier”, that is a large shell, and over the years the container has been transformed into the latter. This object from the 20th century is a magnificent example, with bright colours as well.
